  • Character-based education of local wisdom for children with special needs is done to change society mindset about the existence of children with special needs that they deserve to be accepted and receive special education and attention as normal children in general. On the other hands, children with special needs can develop the effectiveness that they have till able to change society mindset with their achievements. This current study was aimed to investigate: (1) using of character education based on local wisdom in SDLB Negeri Kedungkandang Malang, (2) the implementation supporting factors character education based on local wisdom in SDLB Negeri Kedungkandang Malang, (3) inhibiting factors of using of character education based on local wisdom in SDLB Negeri Kedungkandang Malang. The research method used is qualitative research with descriptive research type. The process of collecting data is by observation, interview, and documentation. Sources of data are headmaster, dance teachers, class teachers, and guardians of Primary School Extraordinary (SDLB) Negeri Kedungkandang Malang. The study was conducted from March to April 2018. The data analysis included: data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results include: (1) using of character education based on local wisdom for children with special needs explore the potential possessed by the child and instill the character values, (2) the supporting factors are headmaster, guardian students, facilities and infrastructure, (3) inhibiting factors, there are no significant inhibiting factors because the facilities are adequate.
