- This study aimed to develop teaching media for first-grade at elementary school students as a medium in the learning process. Scrabble Media facilitates students in the learning process of beginner reader. Scrabble is a teaching media developed and presented with a concrete form. Scrabble teaching media focused on learning of beginner reader that ultimately helps the student to understand the material. The used of Scrabble media encourages students to learn through physical activity. Scrabble media comes with a handbook provided as a guide to use the Scrabble media in groups or independently. This research used Borg & Gall development research with 7 stages from 10 stages. These 7 stages include potentials and problems, data collection, product design, design validation, design revisions, trials, and product revisions. The test was done through pre-test and post-test on May 26, 2018 first-grade students of SDN Girimoyo 3 Malang. The result shows that Scrabble media was suitable for learning support, it was proved by material expert validation to get percentage of 94%, validation of media expert get percentage of 93%, and learning expert get percentage of 89%. While the test result in pre-test obtained percentage of 70.45% and the post-test obtained a percentage of 94.84%, hence, it can be concluded that the media Scrabble was feasible to be used as a lerning media of beginner reader.
