- Verbal ability is one of the things that support the increase and decrease of working memory capacity in humans, especially in adolescents who have an obligation to study with two or more tasks given simultaneously. This research uses correlational quantitative method that purpose to determine the relationship between verbal ability with working memory capacity in students of Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) Batu City. In sampling technique researcher use quota sampling. The method in this research is to use the Operation Span and Tes Intelegensi Kolektif Indonesia tingkat Menengah (TIKI - M). Data analysis using product moment pearson correlation test in SPSS 21 version. Based on the data analysis, can be obtained correlation coefficient value (r) is 0.735; p = 0.000 indicating that there is significant correlation with positive direction between verbal ability with working memory capacity in students of Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) Batu City. Based on the coefficient of determination (r2) shows that the contribution of verbal ability with working memory capacity in students of Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) Kota Batu is 54%, so 46% there are other factors that can affect the working memory capacity.
