- School readiness will support children to adapt to the school challenge. The school readiness depends not only on academic skills but also on physical, language, social, and emotional skills. However, we lack information regarding the school readiness instrument development in Indonesia. This study was a descriptive study that aims to develop an objective and standardized school readiness instrument in Indonesia. Data were collected from 260 kindergarten students in Malang (5-7 years old) based on quota sampling. The process consists of translation, the examination of content validity by expert judgement, the contruct validity analysis using confirmatory factor analysis, dan the reliability analysis based on Cronbach's Alpha coefficient. The result of the study showed that 34 items of school readiness scale are consistent with the school readiness construct and showing the Cronbach's Alpha coefficient from 0.814 to 0.933. In conclusion, the school readiness scale is a valid and reliable instrument in assessing school readiness of preschool students.
