  • Full day school system requires students to be in a school for eight hours a day in which could lead to academic stress. Academic stress is a stressful state experienced by students because of academic demands and pressures. Consequently, the students could not handle it. A treatment that could be done to reduce high academic stress by employing expressive writing. It is an activity which write down the burden of thoughts and feelings in a form of writing for 15-30 day or for 3 days in a row. It is a search to know the influence of expressive writing to decrease student academic stress. This is an experimental research with pretest-posttest control group design. This research aims to know the influence of expressive writing to decrease students' academic stress. Subject on this research are find by random sampling, with the simple ordering technicque. The result shows that there is a significant decrease of academic stress in the experimental group (z=-2.139;p=0.032<0.05). Therefore, the expressive writing can decrease students academic stress.
