- The developmental task of adolescence is finding the identity and thinking about the future. The achievement of this task is related to self-assessment and family condition. Poor family condition often leads to inferiority feeling. Inferiority feeling often has a negative influence if it is not properly managed. Otherwise, when inferiority is well managed it would influence adversity quotient, and in further future orientation. The purpose of this research is to find the influence of inferiority feeling toward future orientation through adversity quotient as mediator. The subjects were 94 adolescents (ages 11-20 years) who have families with social welfare problems. This research uses linear regression analysis and macro PROCESS for SPSS. The Results: inferiority feeling has a negative and significant influence on the future orientation by 30%, the influence of inferiority feeling toward adversity quotient by 41%, and adversity quotient has a significant influence on future orientation. Results from PROCESS is: coefficient of total effect is -0.585, and the direct effect is -0.348. It appears the indirect effect of inferiority feeling toward the future orientation by -0.2373 with a significance 99.92%. So, the influence of inferiority feeling toward future orientation has decreased coefficient with the same direction, but it is still significant after partially mediated.
