  • Mycelium is a collection of hyphae that are interconnected and forming structures such as fibers in red oyster mushroom cultivation (Pleurotus flabellatus). The slowing growth of the mycelium causes the harvesting process to be slow, requiring the addition of media to accelerate the growth process of the oyster mushroom mycelium. The use of elephant grass (Pennisetum purpureum) as the addition of oyster mushroom planting media is safe because it contains high enough cellulose that is 40.85% needed in the process of oyster mushroom growth. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of elephant grass (Pennisetum purpureum) on growing media on the growth of red oyster mushroom mycelium (Pleurotus flabellatus) and determine the addition of the elephant grass (Pennisetum purpureum) which most influenced the growth of red oyster mushroom mycelium (Pleurotus flabellatus). The type of research used is True Experimental. This study used Completely Randomized Design (RAL) with 5 treatments A0 (0% elephant grass + 100% raw material), A1 (40% elephant grass + 60% raw material), A2 (30% elephant grass + 70% raw material), A3 (20% elephant grass + 80% raw material) ), A4 (10% elephant grass + 90% raw material). The same ingredients in each baglog media are 10% cornflour, 15% bran, 5% lime, 5% TSP, and 60% water. The parameters used in this study is the growth rate of mycelium that grows on all media planting baglog red oyster mushroom (Pleurotus flabellatus). Data obtained from observations of mycelium growth were directly applied in the study instrument table. The data analysis used is One Way Anova Test and Duncan's Test. The result of the research based on statistical test shows that there is an effect of the addition of elephant grass on planting medium to the growth of red oyster mushroom mycelium with the addition of 40% elephant grass which produces the most optimal mycelium growth and can be utilized as a biological learning source in the form of LKPD on growth and developmental material XII class high school
