- Indonesia as a Mega Biodiversity country has a diversity of animal species with thousands of germplasm in a unique combination so that there are different genes in the individual. Totally, species of flora and fauna in Indonesia is around 325.350. In Indonesia, the number of types of fauna are 220.000 including insect group. Insect includes in Animalia Kingdom, filum Arthropoda, subfilum Mandibulata and insect class. The aims of this study are to find out the index of insect species diversity and insect dominant index at sugarcane plantation area. The result of this study showed that the index of insect diversity in the study location was included in the medium category with the result around 2.511 for first station, at the second station is around 2.445 and at the third station is about 2.618 for the value of diversity insect. Insect was found at sugarcane plantation area consist of eight orders, seventeen families, twenty two genera and twenty two species covering of Gryllus sp, Odontoponera denticulata, Oriens goloides, Eurema hecabe, Stagmomantis carolina, Cordillacris occipitalis, Hypolimnas bolina, Coccinela arcuata, Oxya chinensis, Agrius convolvuli, Musca domestica, Bothrogonia sp, Pantala flavescens, Mylabris pustulata, Melanoplus sanguinipes, Mycalesis horsfieldii, Tagasta marginella, Leptosia nina, Formica sp, Orthetrum sabina, Copera marginipes, Leptocorisa acuta D. Index of insect dominance at first station amount of 0.09000, second station is 0.09709 and at third station is 0.08334 or from those of stations showed that there is no insect species which is dominating others insect species or dominant index was in low category. The result of this study used as a learning source of biology in the form catalog of insect.
