- There are many ways to conserve Javanese culture, one of them is the presence of Javanese language as a local content subject (Mulok). The existence of Javanese language subject may emerge a new challenge for students, specifically in writing Javanese alphabet. It is proved through the observation done by researcher at SDN Sumurup 2 Trenggalek. Hence, the need of a certain media is considered important so as to assist students in writing Javanese alphabet. This study is aimed to develop Galissawa media in writing Javanese alphabet for third grade elementary students effectively and attractively. Research and development (R&D) method is used in this study in conjunction with ADDIE improvement. This current research was done by five procedures, namely analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation. The research took place at SDN Sumurup 2 Bendungan Trenggalek in even semester of academic year 2017/2018. There were 20 participants taken from third grade. The result has showed that Galissawa media is feasible to be used in learning Javanese alphabet for third grade elementary school students. This is in accordance with the assessment results of three indicators consist of validity, efficacy, and attractiveness. The level of validity obtained from expert assessment showed 92% with feasible criteria and judgment from media experts pointed 93.3%. Meanwhile, efficacy level obtained from observation of student learning activity was 78%. Then, level of attractiveness obtained from students’ questionnaire was 84%. The result has shown that Galissawa media is effective, suitable and attractive to be implemented in learning process. The writer suggests that Galissawa media can be employed in another school for assisting learning activity. It is because the needs of innovation in using media and learning methods are important so that learning atmosphere is more interesting and enjoyable.
