  • This research is about teaching technique in writing skill by using Running Dictation. Running Dictation has some benefits: some of them are to make the students more active during teaching learning activity, enliven a sleepy class and of course to improving students writing skills. This research is conducted in order to know the use of Running Dictation technique to improve students' writing skill at the tenth grade of SMK Raden Rahmad Mojosari. This research used of quasi-experimental research design. In this case, the researcher used two variables: experimental and control group. The experimental class was given a treatment using Running Dictation technique, while the control class was treated without using Running Dictation. Out of four classes of SMK Raden Rahmad Mojosari, two samples were taken by using purposive sampling namely X-Axioo and X-C classes. Each class consisted of 30 students. The instrument in this research was test using pre-test and post-test. It was used to obtain the data or score which was used to answer the hypothesis testing. The data analysis technique was t-test. This research was done from March to April 2017. The researcher used SPSS version 20 to calculate the significant difference of the students' mean scores from experimental and control class and to test the hypothesis. The findings of this study presented that Running Dictation capable to improve the students' writing skill. Based on the students' mean scores of pre-test, it showed that experimental class resulted 72.73 that was lower than control class 75.23. It showed that the mean score of pre-test from experimental groups were under the standard of achievements and the control class was average(75). After the treatment which used Running Dictation was applied to the experimental class, the mean scores from post-test was significantly different. The experimental class reached 79.97 and the control class was 74.50. it refers that the mean scores of post-test from experimental class was above the standard of achievement (75) but the control class scores was under the standard of achievements (75). Then, the hypothesis testing showed that the level of sig. (2-tailed) is .001, which shows that the significant is below .005, it refers that the alternative hypothesis on this research was accepted and null hypothesis was rejected. Hence, it concludes that Running Dictation capable to be a considerably technique to be used in teaching the students in writing skill.
