- Teaching method is a section in putting the theory and approach into real practice to design the content to be taught and how the content will be taught. There are various kinds of teaching method in which some of them are the most popular teaching method that inspired other kinds of teaching method. There are Grammar-Translation Method (GTM), Audiolingualism, and Communicative Language Teaching (CLT). Each teaching methods have various classroom activities that usually done by the teacher as the implementation of the teaching method. This present study is trying to analyze about what kind of teaching method used by the ESP instructors in teaching ESP Speaking of first semester students in International Relations Department and how does the ESP instructors implement the teaching method in the class. Furthermore, this present study was conducted using Qualitative research design. In collecting the data, two instruments were used, that are; observation and interview. According to the research for this present study, the teaching method used by two ESP Speaking Instructors was Communicative Language Teaching (CLT). It was based on the focus of the ESP instructors in which the focus of the teaching and learning activity is the students. It was also based on the approach that is used in ESP program that is students-center approach. Moreover, the implementation of teaching method in the class was through the classroom activity conducted by the ESP instructors in which most of the activities are focusing on the students' participation in class. The classroom activity such as giving direction using map and guessing daily activity through clues were the activities that was done by the ESP instructors and these kind of activities are included in CLT classroom activity.
