- Teaching strategies are selected to help students achieve their learning process. It is also as a means of having understanding the material especially in learning English. Furthermore, English becomes a subject not only for regular school but also for inclusive education school. Moreover, inclusive education school is a school where special needs students meet with regular students. Due to their difference characteristics, the teachers must select teaching learning strategies by considering many aspects such as learning sources, conditions and what student needs especially for an autism student. So they need some strategies to achieve the learning process. Hence, this research is focused on teacher's teaching reading strategies. This research was conducted to analyze the English teacher's teaching strategies used in teaching reading for an autism student of eight-garade at SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Malang. Therefore, the researcher aims to get data of the strategies used by teacher in teaching English for an autism student and how the teachers apply those strategies while having teaching and learning process. Descriptive qualitative was selected in this research. The data were taken from the teachers who teach an autism student of eight grade students at SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Malang. The data were taken from observation, field notes and interview. In the data collection, the researcher used a semi-structured interview, field note, and non-participant observation. Based on the observation and data analysis, it was found that there were three strategies used by the teacher in teaching reading for an autism student. They were collaborative reading, peer tutoring and reciprocal teaching strategy. Moreover, the researcher found that a peer tutoring was a dominant strategy used by the teacher in teaching an autism student. Besides, the teacher's reason used that strategy in almost every class activity in order to build strong connection and interaction of an autism student amongs regular students. The researcher also found that the most appearing problems of eight-grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Malang was noisy students. In addition, the teachers used some actions to overcome those problems in order to keep the teaching-learning process running well. The researcher found that the actions conducted by the teachers were effective to solve the appearing problem in the class.
