- English for Young Learners is one of the elective course offered by English Language Education Department at University of Muhammadiyah Malang. Meanwhile, the male participants from this course are decreasing in the last three years. Therefore, the researcher is intended to do as study about "The Reasons of English Language Education Department Students' for Not Taking English for Young Learners Course at University of Muhammadiyah Malang". The objectives of the study were to know the reasons of English Language Education Department males' students for not taking English for Young Learners as their elective course and the dominant reasons of English Language Education Department males' student's for not taking English for Young Learners as their elective course. This study combined quantitative and qualitative design because it was to design to collect the data and to get information about the reasons of male student's year 2013 did not take English for Young Learners as the elective course. The findings of this study was found that there are 8 reasons of male students for not taking English for Young Learners as their elective course: 1) They do not like dealing with children; 2) They think that English for Young Learners is the busiest course among the other elective course; 3) They do not like teaching; 4) They think English for Young Learners is not their passion; 5) They think English for Young Learners is less challenging for them; 6) They did not choose EYL because of friend's suggestion; 7) They think English for Young Learners is only suitable for woman; 8) They think just followed their friend's to take another course rather than English for Young Learners course. The most dominant reason of male students for not taking English for Young Learners as the elective course are they do not like dealing with children and they think English for Young Learners is the busiest course among the other course.
