- Intention of wearing personal protective equipment while working is a strong need of worker inside to wear personal protective equipment while working in order to save their body from the risks of accidently in work. Intention of wearing personal protective equipment while working is decided by worker’s awareness of hazard. Awareness of hazard is worker’s ability to receive stimulus (hazard), body reaction, and exact response in process of thinking and doing, so that hewill response those hazard by doing something which can make him safe from the risk of those hazard. This variable research is awareness of hazard as free variable and intention of wearing personal protective equipment while working as bound variable. The population of this research is all the project workers of PT. Tatamulia Nusantara Indah in Surabaya. And the sample is the construction workers. Purposive sampling is the sampling method used by the researcher, which consist of 35 people for the sample. Validity research uses correlation procedure formula of product moment from Karl Person. Index validity to scale of the awareness of hazard is 0,313 0,790, and index validity to scale of intention of wearing personal protective equipment while working is 0,3160,716. Reliability research uses Alpha Cronbach method, with alpha value to scale of the awareness of hazard is 0,735 0,794, and alpha value to scale of intention of wearing personal protective equipment while working is 0,7980,831. From the research results show that there are positive relationships and highly significant between the awareness of hazard and intention of wearing personal protective equipment while working, with value of coefficient correlation (r)=0,684, and probability of error (p)=0,000. The project workers of PT. Tatamulia Nusantara Indah in Surabaya not only have a high awareness of hazard and they but also have a high intention of wearing personal protective equipment while working. An awareness to hazard gives effective contribution to an intention of wearing personal protective equipment while working equal 46,8%, and 53,2% comes from other variable that are not observed.
