  • Workers and Job stress are two matter which interconnected. While Job stres and coping behavior are two matter continual. Each individual who have an experience with stress, conscious or unconscious will do coping behavior to be able to stand at the stress situation. But sometimes, coping behavior that emerged are not such an effective matter to faced the problem and will make the problem to become complicated. Coping behavior is a behavior that emerge by individual to be able to stay in a full stressor situation. Type of coping behavior are divided to become two. That is problem focused coping and emotion focused coping. Job stress is internal situation of individual in physical and mentality that happened in the work area as a consequences of imbalance between individual characteristic and work demand. The source of stress is come from internal factor (character and perception of employee) and external factor (like work of itself). This factors are interconnected because stress happened if both of source are interact. This research device is a qualitative research, that appropriate with the objective of this research to get much information about a certain phenomenon. The subject of this research are the officers of Malang Prison Institution who have a high level of stress. There are three subject for this research. The methode of the data’s collecting are interview and observation. Base on the data’s analysis, the stressors for the three subject are social related with the other officers and the prisoners. The three subject emerging a problem focused coping (confrontation and social support) and an emotion focused coping (crying, taking a positive value, and responsibility acceptance)
