The data were collected by reading both English and Indonesian versions of the novel, marking the idioms found, finding the translation of the marked idioms in Indonesian version, and putting them in a table. In analysing the data, the researcher identified the opaque idioms and its strategy applied, categorised it into a table, presented the data in comprehensive explanation, and drew a conclusion.&#xD; &#xD; The result indicated that four strategies proposed by Baker are applied in translating seventy-four opaque idioms found. There are: (1) using an idiom of similar meaning and similar form that applied on five opaque idioms, (2) using an idiom of similar meaning but dissimilar form, applied on twelve opaque idioms found, (3) translation by paraphrase which is applied on fifty-three opaque idioms found and (4) translation by omission that applied on four opaque idioms. Meanwhile, the most dominant strategy applied by the translator in this study is translation by paraphrase.</description><date>2017-09-08</date><type>Thesis:Thesis</type><type>PeerReview:NonPeerReviewed</type><type>Book:Book</type><language>eng</language><identifier>http://eprints.umm.ac.id/35808/1/jiptummpp-gdl-nabilasafi-48744-1-introduc-n.pdf</identifier><type>Book:Book</type><language>eng</language><identifier>http://eprints.umm.ac.id/35808/2/jiptummpp-gdl-nabilasafi-48744-2-chapter-e.pdf</identifier><type>Book:Book</type><language>eng</language><identifier>http://eprints.umm.ac.id/35808/3/jiptummpp-gdl-nabilasafi-48744-3-chapter-e.pdf</identifier><type>Book:Book</type><language>eng</language><identifier>http://eprints.umm.ac.id/35808/4/jiptummpp-gdl-nabilasafi-48744-4-chapter-e.pdf</identifier><identifier> Safitri, Nabila (2017) OPAQUE IDIOMS TRANSLATION BY FEMMY SYAHRANI IN HARPER LEE&#xC2;&#x2019;S NOVEL TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD.
