  • This research is directed to investigate code switching on Monkey Majik bilingual songs (English-Japanese) in Westview album. The research problems are 1) what kinds of code switching are included on the lyrics? 2) what are the meanings of Japanese words switched in English on the lyrics? The purpose of research is to understand the kinds of code switching included on the song lyrics and to find out the meaning of Japanese words switched in English on the lyrics. The research design is qualitative research type. The applied method of the study is document analysis. There are two kinds of code switching found in Monkey Majik bilingual songs based on the findings. They are inter-sentential code switching and intra-sentential code switching. The writer found the meaning of Japanese words switched on some Monkey MajikÂ’s bilingual songs lyrics which was translated in English. The result of the study concluded that there were four songs included in code switching classification from seven Monkey MajikÂ’s bilingual songs (English-Japanese) and Those songs are Angel, The PartyÂ’s Over, Yume No Sekai, and Sunshine. The lyrics of those songs contain two types of code switching based on Barbara theory that applies two code switching types, inter-sentential code switching and intra-sentential code switching. There are 15 lyrics and their meanings from the song that contains four types of code switching. Some of them are 9 inter-sentential code switching and 6 intra-sentential code switching. The most applied type of code switching on Monkey MajikÂ’s bilingual songs in Westview album is inter-sentential code switching.
