- Listening is one of the skill in learning English, it has important role to the studentsÂ’ learning development. In order to have a better ability in listening skill, students need an appropriate strategy such as watching English movie. Then, in this present study the researcher intended to investigate the correlation between studentsÂ’ watching English movie and studentsÂ’ listening skill at University of Muhammadiyah Malang. This research used correlational study to find out the relationship between studentsÂ’ watching English movie and studentsÂ’ listening skill. A quantitative approach was used to analyze the data collected using Statistical Package of Social Science (SPSS) Version 21 for MS. Word with the formula of Pearson Product Moment correlation. The sample of this study was the 3rd semester students of English Language Education Department of E class which consisted of 34 students who were randomly selected from eight classes with total population of 248 students. The instruments of this study were questionnaire and studentsÂ’ listening test score. Based on the result of findings in the statistical method of correlation, it was found that rxy= 0.188. The degrees of significant shows that rt 5% = 0.443 and rt 1% = 0.378. Furthermore, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is rejected and the null hypothesis (Ho) is accepted. Those result showed that there was a very low correlation between studentsÂ’ watching English movie and studentsÂ’ listening skill at University of Muhammadiyah Malang.
