- Keyword : : Technique of Teaching, Teaching Speaking, English for Specific Purposes. This research is aimed at analyzing the technique of teaching used by the English teacher at ESP program in IESP department in University of Muhammadiyah Malang. The researcher describes the technique of teaching speaking and how the implementation of those techniques used by the English teacher in English speaking class and confidently use of English in studentÂ’s daily life. This research is conducted by using descriptive qualitative research. The researcher obtained the data by using interview and observation to the English teacher and writing the report in the form of written data. The subject of the study is one English teacher at English for Specific Purposes (ESP) Program University of Muhammadiyah Malang. The instruments used to collect the data were observation and interview. Based on the result of data analysis, the researcher found the techniques used by the English teacher in teaching speaking as follows: 1. Discussion, 2. Communication Game, and 3. Interview. The teacher used the teaching techniques based on the skills that he was going to teach. The teacher used the implement those techniques such as: discussion, communication games, and interview. But in teaching speaking the teacher used brainstorming and game technique to help the main technique. The implementation of the techniques mentioned above was appropriate technique as an activity for speaking skill. The implementation of those techniques also making the students very interested in joining the class helped the teacher delivering the material, and helping language communication for students.
