- An effective and efficient order fulfillment system is absolutely needed to achieve customer satisfaction. However, wastes which occur in production process would hamper toward its progress, that it is necessary to do an efficiency effort by implementing a concept of Lean Six Sigma which is a combination of lean method and six sigma method. Lean method improves process flow and reduce wastes meanwhile six sigma method improve process capability and reduce variations. In measure phase, known that the most significant waste in production process of pump GTR 2 at CV. Pabrik Mesin Guntur were waiting and defects. Based on that fact, this research was very necessary to be executed to understand the causes of wastes and to make an improvement plan by using Lean Six Sigma approach and 5W + 1H method. From analyze phase, it is known that the causes of wastes were (a) there was no such thing like quality control based on statistic in pump testing process, (b) there were process errors caused by unskilled operators and work instruction that lack of information, (c) material warehouse location which was insufficient, and (d) there were process error in drilling process caused by there were no precondition process toward material before the main process. The proposed improvement plans are (a) implementing quality control system based on statistic by using control chart in pump testing process, (b) give additional training to the operators and review the work instruction and give necessary improvement toward it, (c) relocate the material warehouse by separating it from work area of Research and Development Division and re-arrange the material stock piles, and (d) give coolants to each material before drilling process.
