  • Keyword : Transposition, Subtitle Transposition is a translation procedure involving a change in the grammar from SL to TL. It occurs when the form in source language has a new form or different form from the target language. By learning transposition, people especially the translator may learn how to translate English into Indonesian properly with an accurate meaning and are able to convey the message as it should be. This research aimed to find out kinds of transposition procedures, how transposition procedures are applied and the most dominant transposition procedure used on subtitle of Despicable Me 2 movie. This study was conducted based on descriptive qualitative research with descriptive analysis. The object in this study was subtitle of Despicable Me 2 movie. Meanwhile, the research instrumental used was document analysis to gather the data based on the statement of problems. The results of the data analysis are summed up as follows. First, the study showed that from 42 data that had been found, they are classified into four kinds of transposition. 25 of the data are considered as automatic transposition, 1 datum is considered as transposition occurs when grammatical structure of SL does not exist in TL, 13 data showed transposition occurs because of idiom naturalness and 3 data are regarded as transposition occurs in order to fill the vocabulary gaps. Those data are categorized as transposition since there are changes of grammatical structure from SL into TL such as; a change of word order, word unit, class of word and the structure. Second, it was found that the most dominant transposition used was Automatic transposition which is consisting of 25 out of 42 from the total of the data. It involves a change of word from plural into singular and a change in a word order of noun phrase from adjective & noun into noun & adjective.
