- Keyword : Writing, Essay, Concluding Paragraph, Expository Essay Writing is one of the important skill that the learner has to master. Writing is a complex process because in writing student students should have powerful tool for thinking. The purpose of this study is to describe is to describe the concluding paragraph in expository essay writing composed by English Department students in University of Muhammadiyah Malang. Related to the purpose above, descriptive qualitative research design was used in this study. The subject of this study is the fifth semester students 2012/2013 of English Department in University of Muhammadiyah Malang. Furthermore, the data of this study are studentsÂ’ expository essay writing. Based on the data analyzing, the writer concludes that the concluding paragraph in the expository essay of English Department students of UMM had already conducted in a good procedure. These were some aspects found in the studentsÂ’ expository essay writing 1) it concludes the maint point of the essay, 2) it makes a final comment about the essays main idea, 3) it may emphasize an action that the writer would like the reader to take and 4) and it may not introduce new idea. From 15 students, the writer found that 4 students stated the aspects completely, 4 students stated 3 aspects, and one student only stated two aspects concluding paragraph.
