- Title of research "The Main Sector and Economic SubSector Identification in Lumajang Regency". The economic development is not only aims to create a growth as high as expected to reduce poverty and income inequality. From the both objectives above are not able to fulfill all countries simultaneously. Those inabilities were caused by the limited development resources are available, so that countries or regions are faced with the choice of pursuing the highest growthwith equity, or otherwise delayed. The purpose of this study is to broaden thoughts and knowledge of researcher in particular the economic benefits of the main sector and subsector in Lumajang and as information and reference materials for researchers and fellow students who want to do more research, especially related to the economic potential sectors and subsectors in Lumajang. While the data analysis controlling techniques using data analysis techniques Location Quotient (LQ) and Shift Share. Based on the analysis of LQ had known there are two economic sectors in Lumajang with a comparative of East Java in the mark with LQ greater than one, namely Agriculture (1.93), multiplication (1.69), construction (1.36) and services (1.14). This means that the sector role has large contribution in the economic sector of Lumajang, so it can be a motivator for developing other sectors. From the analysis of the dominant sector for the year 20042007 are agriculture, mining, construction, and services. From the Shift share calculations, there were four dominant sectors. That sector has a competitive advantage for four consecutive years (20042007) which includes agriculture, processing industry, trade and services. By known economic sectors and subsectors in Lumajang regency, government should give more attention to this subsector and to accelerates economic growth and simultaneously used as the sector movers and other subsectors so it can achieve optimal growth.
