- possibilities to get jobs. English help students to ease communication and the relationship. Furthermore many books on science and technology are written in English. In school, many students get difficulties in studying. Some have good achievement and some have unsatisfactory achievement (unsuccessful), whereas they have abilities and are given the some materials. Therefore students should be motivated so that they always love what they learn. Good motivation and achievement can bring them success until they finish their study. The purpose of this study is describing the student’s motivation in studying English and the teacher’s technique on the teaching learning process. The method that is considered appropriate in carrying out this study is descriptive research. The population of this study is the students SDN Kotalama VI and the samples were 45 students at fourth grade. This study used questionnaires that were distributed to the students. In addition, interview with one of English teacher of fourth grade was also conducted. The result of this study shows that the fourth grade students of SDN Kotalama VI Malang have very positive motivation in studying English on teaching learning process. It is supported by English teacher that used various techniques in teaching and learning process such as giving explanation, games, practicing conversation, songs, telling story, reading aloud and dictation. Finally, the teacher was suggested to develop the technique to maintain the student’s motivation to learn English and join in kind of teacher training service. And for the students studying English not only at the school with the teacher, but also independently at home and joining in English course.
