  • Playing is a kind of activity done by children voluntarily, in such a free ways without force from its outside environment which can be done to help the growth of the child including their cognitive, social, and emotional growth. In their lives, h children needs playing in which it is found not only in normal children since playing games can enhance their motor ability. There are many kinds of games that can be done namely contrustivistic game, successful game, receptive game, symbolic games or role playing, destructive games, musical games and free and spontaneous games. In this case, not all the games can be played by those suffering from mental sickness since the handicapped children have some defects in terms of their mental and their physical well being as well. As a result, they are lack in motion so they just depend on their parts of the body they can have. Therefore, this study is meant to know kinds games that mentally-retarded children do and what kinds of problems that these students have when playing. This study uses descriptive qualitative method. The data collection method used is observation and interview as well. The observation is done at home and at school. The interview id done to parents, teachers and the subjects as the indication of the data completeness. And the analysis is done by using descriptive qualitative analysis method. The results of this study show that these students can do more variety ways though they have significant problems s to do so but it is not so much affected them. Though they have the problems s to do such games, they have certain ways to compensate the problems s with the ability they have. For example, for those who cannot play football by using foot then they can do it by using hands. Some of them need crutch to run, ho, and walk. However, not all children need that kind of tools to do so that is all depend on the child condition. On the other hands, in other games like the constructive, receptive, free and spontaneous, role playing, and musical games then the children find no problems at all.
