- Teaching technique is one of the important roles which should be executed and implemented by the teacher carefully. The teacher should know how to implement the techniques appropriately especially in a bilingual class. In a bilingual class, the students are demanded to use their foreign language as well as their native language. They should use both languages not only in English but also in other subjects; such as biology, mathematic, chemistry, etc. This study investigated on the technique of teaching bilingual class to seven graders in SMPN 1 Malang, included: the techniques used by biology teacher in teaching bilingual class to seven graders at SLTP Negeri 1 Malang and the materials used by biology teacher in teaching bilingual class to seven graders at SLTP Negeri 1 Malang. The design of this research was descriptive qualitative research design because it described the techniques of teaching biology in bilingual class at SLTP Negeri 1 Malang. The writer took the only one of biology teacher in teaching bilingual class at SLTP Negeri 1 Malang as her research subject. In collecting the data, the writer used two kinds of instruments: observation and interview. Observation was done for about three times. The interview was conducted to the teacher to get more data that could not be taken during the observation. In this research the writer got some data. The teacher used three kinds of techniques. They were: lecturing, demonstration, and question-answer technique. Furthermore, in implementing the techniques, the teacher uses many kinds of material such as: videos and power points.
