- Recently, English teachers and students have influenced by technology in teaching and learning activity. Both of them can explore and utilize the information technology as resource in teaching and learning process. This research proposed a YouTube video as resource in teaching speaking skill. The aim of this research was to know whether YouTube video had a significant effect in teaching speaking skill at Bahasa Indonesia Dept of UMM. Regarding to the problem, pre-experimental one group pretest posttest design was conducted to solve the problem occurring in the speaking class. The population of this research was second grade students at Bahasa Indonesia Dept of UMM which consisted of three classes A, B, and C. The researcher used the purposive sampling because the sample was the lowest score than other classes in previous semester at Bahasa Indonesia Dept of UMM. The result of data analysis showed that the average score of posttest was higher than pretest. It was 76.70 for the pretest and 82.20 for the posttest. The researcher found the value of the t-test was 2.137, then the researcher compared the t-test to t-table with level of significant 0.05 was 2.068. So, it could be concluded that t-test was higher than t-table and the alternative hypothesis that YouTube video had a significant effect on studentsÂ’ speaking skill in ESP speaking class at Bahasa Indonesia Dept of UMM was accepted. It was concluded that YouTube video as resource could be one solution to improve studentsÂ’ speaking skill.
