  • Being able to speak is one of the enormous skills that human being have. By this skill, people can communicate with each other. It is actually the basic characteristic of people in creating communication with each other, because this communication may create social contact and relationship among them. By then, the language that is usually used by people is speech. In other words, people make use of language in order to participate in the activity of social interaction and communication. To be able to interact in a language is essential. In this study, the writer used Classroom Action Research technique to improve studentsÂ’ speaking ability through Acting Play Scripts (APS). CAR is the application of fact finding to practical problem solving in a social situation with a view to improving the quality of action within it, involving the collaboration and co-operation of researcher, practitioners and students. The subject of this study was tenth grade and the setting was SMK 1 Muhammadiyah Watulimo Trenggalek. The results of the study showed that: (1) APS can improve studentsÂ’ speaking skill; and (2) APS can improve classroom situation, in terms of: creating live teaching atmosphere; increasing studentsÂ’ participation, reducing teacher domination, providing bigger opportunities for speaking practice, enhancing spoken activity; and increasing teacher innovation and understanding about studentsÂ’ potentials.
