  • Pronoun is one aspect of grammar. It is a part of speech in English. It is a basic knowledge of English that should be mastered. Thus, it is introduced to students since beginning level. Many students still got difficulties in understanding pronoun especially personal pronoun. So, the teacher must know the studentsâ€TM ability in using personal pronoun. Therefore, the researcher wants to investigate about how is the ability of the second year in using English personal pronoun at SMP Muhammadiyah 6 Dau. This study used a descriptive quantitative because the research was to show about count and amount in knowing the data of the studentsâ€TM ability in using personal pronoun. The population of this study was the eighth grades; 30 students were taken as the sample of this study by using simple random sampling. The data were obtained from the results of the test on personal pronoun. Based on the result of data analysis, the students got 56.66% for personal pronoun as the subject, 41.11% personal pronoun as the object, 53.91% for personal pronoun as the possessive adjective and 34.44% for personal pronoun as the possessive pronoun. Based on the result of computation of mean score, it was found out that students got the mean score of 46.53%. It means that their ability of personal pronoun was poor.
