- Teaching English for the primary level is different from teaching English for elementary school. This study was focused on the teaching media, the media selection and the studentsâ€TM responses toward the media used in teaching English at TK Tunas Rimba Tuban. The objective of this study was to describe the teaching media used, to know the criteria used to select the media and the studentsâ€TM responses toward the media used in teaching and learning process. In this study, the descriptive qualitative design was used to find out the data and analysis it is well. The subject of this study was one English teacher and her 60 students and then investigated the English teacher at TK Tunas Rimba Tuban. The data were obtained through interviewing the teacher and observing the classroom activity. The findings were analyzed based on the related theory and described descriptively. The result of this study indicated that the media used by the teacher were mostly visual media, they were: blackboard, picture, flash cards, work book, and stick puppets. She rarely used audio media; she used tape recorder and cassette just once in a while for variation. She selected the media which were match with the teaching objective that had been stated, the media should support the content of the lesson, the teacher had to have the skill to use the media, the media should be easily accessed, the media should not need time consuming, and the media should suit with the studentsâ€TM cognitive stage. In addition, the students showed positive responses toward the teaching media.
