- This study was aimed to know whether teaching reading comprehension by using comic story can improve studentsâ€TM comprehension and what was their response toward this teaching learning activity. This reasearch was done in grade XI-d IPA of MA. MAâ€TMarif 7 Banjarwati Paciran Lamongan. This study used classroom action research. The subject of this study was all students in grade XI-d IPA of MA. Maâ€TMarif 7 Banjarwati Paciran Lamongan. There were 27 students in this class. This study used participatory observation, where observation was made three times; before doing the research in pleminary study and during the teaching of reading comprehension by using comic story. Then, doing interview with the teacher to obtain information about its improvements toward the proccess of teaching learning and ability of the students. It was done before the reserach and after doing the research cycle by cycle. The interview was also done with the students to determine their perspective and responds toward this activity. Finally this study used tests to see improvement in students achievement after the implementation of this teaching learning proccess. The results of the teaching reading comprehension by reading comic showed that the teaching was successful in improving students undertanding. It could be seen in their score of each cycle; in previous comprehesnion test, before doing this research, their score was in average 61,85. The first cycle compehension test score was 72,78 percents and the last comprehension test score in second cycle was 85,74 percents. Those score was also supported by the result of observation, which showed a good improvement. This result had achieved a predetermined target of school curriculum. Besides, after doing interview they also showed good responses toward this activity. They were very interested in comic because they were attracted with the pictures and stories contained. In conclusion, teaching by reading comics as an alternative way to teach reading comprehension in class XI-IPA of MA. Maâ€TMarif 7 Banjarwati Paciran Lamongan could improve teaching reading comprehension proccess and students reading comprehension.
