- One of the problems in teaching and learning activity that must be paid attention by the teachers is about the quality of the textbook which is used. Textbook is materials of instruction in certain subject (in this case is English textbook) that is arranged by some experts for instructional purposes to support teaching program. As a teaching media, textbook has some important roles. That is why, teacher must be selective in choosing the textbook that will be used, in order to make teaching and learning activities effective and succesful. Therefore, the researcher is interested to analyze the quality of English textbook "Grow with English" published by Erlangga used in the first year students at SDN 008 Tenggarong Sebrang - Kutai Kartanegara. The study used a discriptive design because the writer wanted to discribe the general quality of English textbook, especially vocabulary and structure aspects. The object of this study is the English textbook and the data was taken from the result of the checklist done by two English teachers and the researcher. After the data were gotten, then the writer analyzed and calculated the final score percentage, and the final score percentage of each aspects. Next, the researcher analyzed them. The finding of this research shows that final score percentage of this textbook is 67%, it is categorized into sufficient. So, the general quality of the English textbook is sufficient. And the quality of each aspect is: 67% for the score percentage of vocabulary which is categorized into sufficient, 67% for the score percentage of structure which is also categorized into sufficient. From the findings above, the researcher concluded that English textbook "Grow with English" published by Erlangga used for the first year students at SDN 008 Tenggarong Sebrang - Kutai Kartanegara is categorized as sufficient English textbook.
