- Background : Many researcher studies has being done to search a new source of natural albumin as the result of the highly price of human serum albumin injection for the treatment of hypoalbuminemia. One of the natural albumin source is from Channa striata Bloch. fish. This fresh water fish contains high protein concentration which up to 2,25% by weight in its fresh flesh and have albumin concentration up to 6,244 g/100 g. Objectives : To determine the effect of CMC Na concentration (0,1%, 0,5%, 1,0%) in Channa striata Bloch. oral solution preparation as a thickening agent to its physical characteristics, aseptability and albumin concentrations. Methode : This study was an experimental research and the data was collected after preparing formula I, II, III and a control formula. Evaluation included organoleptics examination, pH, density, viscocity, aseptabillity and the determined of albumin concentrations in preparation. Results and conclusions : Based on the physical characteristics (pH, density, viscositiy), acceptability percentages and the albumin profile of catfish extract preparations, there is an effect of the used CMC Na concentrations to the catfish extract oral solution preparations. Albumin concentrations in preparation was 0,2329 g/dL in formula I, 0,2019 g/dL in formula I and 0,4607 g/dL in control formula.
