- Nowadays, English has been known as an international language around the world. Among all language skill, speaking is an important skill which used in daily communication in the society. The reason is that the purpose of learning foreign language such as English language is mostly used for communication. Teaching speaking to children is different part than teaching adult. The important things are we have to be aware and understand about their characteristic and behavior in the class. The goal of this study is to find the techniques used by teacher of English for young learners in bilingual class at SD Muhammadiyah I Malang. Besides, it is also to know how the teacher implements the techniques when teaching speaking skill to young learners in the class. The research design of this study is descriptive qualitative. In addition, the subject of study was the English teacher who teaches in bilingual class at SD Muhammadiyah I Malang. The writer used two ways to collect data. Both observation and interview are applied to gain the data. There were four techniques used by the English teacher in the class, those are drilling, dialogue, game, and song. The teacher implemented those techniques based on the topic studied. Sometime the teacher combined more than one technique to make the students more active and interested. Again, the appropriate techniques used by the teacher are the significant factors which influenced the studentsÂ’ understanding about the topic and also motivated them in learning English. By those techniques implemented, the studentsÂ’ response toward the topics was very positive. They were really interested in learning English
