  • English is one of foreign languages taught in Indonesia as one of foreign language. ItÂ’s very important to learn in Indonesia. To face the globalization era, in junior high school and senior high school have to prepare the student to able to communicate in English language. Speaking is to express or communicate opinions, feelings, ideas by or a talking and it involves the activities in the part of the speakers as psychological, physiological (articulation) and physical (acoustic) stage. This study intends to know about the factors that improve studentsÂ’ speaking English ability at SMP Muhammadiyah 01 Malang. In the study the writer used descriptive quantitative design as it deals with used statistical analysis of numerical data to explain phenomena. The samples of this study were 69 of the class VIII A, VIIIB, and VIII C of second semester students in SMP Muhammadiyah 01 Malang. The data were obtained through questionnaire. The data of this study were analyzed using a simple percentage. The result of this study showed that there were fourteen support and obstacle factors which make the studentsÂ’ influence in speaking English ability. The highest studentÂ’ improvement influenced by facilities factor. Meanwhile in obstacle factor, the highest studentsÂ’ unimprovement was influenced by difficult to remember vocabulary factor. It means that those support and obstacle factors influenced studentsÂ’ improvement of speaking English ability at second year of SMP Muhammadiyah 01 Malang.
