  • The appropriate textbook can helps the teacher to prepare the material for the course. Moreover, to know whether certain text is readable for certain studentÂ’s level, readability formula can be used so that reading process will be successful. The significance of this study hopes that the result of this study may help English teachers and headmasters in selecting the appropriate textbook to be used. The objective of this research was to investigate the readability level of reading text in “Bse (Buku Sekolah Elektronik)” textbook for Second Year Junior High School published by Department of National Education. This study used descriptive quantitative research design that described the readability level of “Bse (Buku Sekolah Elektronik)” textbook for Second Year Junior High School published by Department of National Education. The samples of this research were 8 reading texts in Bse (Buku Sekolah Elektronik) textbook for Second Year Junior High School. The data of this research were collected and analyzed based on the result of reading text formula. The result of the study indicated that “Bse (Buku Sekolah Elektronik)” textbook for Second Year Junior High School published by Department of National Education were readable but it was not appropriate for the second year junior high school students because it was very easy to understand for second grade Junior High school students.
