  • A simple thin-layer chromatografic (TLC) Densitometry methode has been established for analysis of Sibutramine Hydrochloride as an illicit additive in some herbal slimming (Jamu Pelangsing). The purpose of this study is to identify the components of the BKO Sibutramin Hydrochloride in herbal preparations that circulated in the District of Malang Regency Klojen. The results showed that the solvent Sibutramin Hydrochloride from a good herbal preparations is methanol. Chromatography contained Silica Gel GF 254 as stationary phase and methanol : toluene (95:5) as mobile phase. Application of this method for the identification Sibutramin Hydrochloride in the twenty-two samples of herbal slimming (Jamu Pelangsing) circulating in the district of Malang Regency Klojen show that there are two herbal samples suspected to contain BKO Sibutramin Hydrochloride, because at TLC Rf stain results are almost identically with Rf stain Sibutramin hydrochloride standard. Then performed using a densitometry was observed between the sample spots and stains Sibutramin Hydrochloride comparative standard spectral patterns (MF > 900) yield, Rf = 0.58 and λ max = 219 nm. So it can be concluded that both samples contained Sibutramin BKO Hydrochloride. Based on the results of the study, concluded that the TLC-densitometry method can be applied to the identification of BKO Sibutramin Hydrochloride in the preparation of herbal slimming circulating in the community.
