- Background: Stroke is a brain dysfunction caused by brain circulatory disorders, suddenly arise, lasts for 24 hours or more which can cause of death. Hypertension is a major risk factor for stroke. The choice of appropriate antihypertensive medication will be very helpful in the prevention of the patient's condition to a worse direction and speed improvement of patients recovery. CCB can reduce the incidence of stroke 38% in stroke patients with hypertension. CCB have also been shown to provide better protection for the treatment of stroke compared to other drugs such as ACE inhibitors, β-blockers, and diuretics. Objective: This study was used to determine the pattern of use CCB that received ischemic stroke patients at hospitals of Dr. Saiful Anwar Malang and reviewing CCB therapy related to the type, dose, route, interval of administration, frequency and duration of use of the data associated therapy clinics and laboratory data of patients. Methods: Descriptive study was conducted with sampling by taking the data retrospectively ischemic stroke patients treated in inpatient at hospitals of Dr. Saiful Anwar Malang period October to December 2012. The data sample used patient medication records which fulfilled with inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results and Conclusions: From 64 patients treated with CCB which 42 patients met the inclusion criteria and exclusion of 22 patients. From patients who fill the inclusion criteria 55% of male patients and 45% of female patients. Types of antihypertensive most widely used is the dihydropyridine CCB amlodipine 31 patients (74%), who received combination CCB amlodipine + Nicardipin + Herbezeer ® 1 patient (2%). While CCB combination with other antihypertensive most widely used is the amlodipine + Captopril in 8 patients (19%). CCB were given to patients with ischemic stroke in inpatient at hospitals of Dr. Saiful Anwar Malang is in conformity with the relevant guideline dose, route of administration, interval of administration, and frequency of administration.
