- Language, as a tool of communication is needed to connect people in a community. That is why it is important to study language and things related to it. The development of language is by society itself, so they create many kinds of language variation, including colloquial, dialect, slang, jargon, style and jargon. The researcher discussed one of those language variations that is jargon. Jargon is one of language varieties which are not often recognize by people in common. Jargon is often used by people in certain place. The researcher studied the jargon used in traditional dance lesson in the first grade of SMAN 1 Dolopo Kabupaten Madiun. This study used qualitative design to get the information. The participants of the study were two traditional dance teachers in SMAN 1 Dolopo Kabupaten Madiun. In this research, the researcher chose them because they had good experience in teaching traditional dance lesson by using jargon as the instruction. There were three instruments used namely observation checklist, interview guide and document. They were used to seek the information and to get necessary data related to jargon used. In analyzing data, the researcher analyzed the data by interpreting, synthesizing, categorizing and organizing data to the patterns that produce a descriptive and narrative synthesis. This study found out that total jargons used in traditional dance lesson which were 36 jargons in total. From 36 jargons, 23 were described into gestures, 4 jargons were described as oral instructions and 6 jargons were described into written form.
