- Film is a movie that includes motion picture which has a story that creates the illusion of motion and continuity. There are many topics related to film. One about the topic is Learn English. Learn English is a process study English that important and can increase our knowledge about English language. English Vinglish film is chosen in this thesis because this film tells about a foreigner from India and not has a much vocabulary that makes her difficulties to speak with other people in United States of America. The purposes of the study are (1) to mention the reasons of Sashi to learn English as a foreigner in the United States of America in English Vinglish film by Rahul Nanda. (2) to identify the ways of Sashi to learn English as a foreigner in the United States of America in English Vinglish film by Rahul Nanda. In this study objective approach was applied in analyzing the phenomenon of learning English faced by Sashi in English Vinglish film. This consideration was taken because the researcher did not need to study the author’s life, the background of the works or the background of the society but only analyze learning English. The result of study shows about the proud by Sashi to her husband and her daughter. Sashi can speak English well than the first time she come in United States of America. She could speech in front of many people when she must give speech in Meera’s wedding. Based on her spirit to learn English more, she can find that speak English is most important.
