- Students’ response is the students’ own ideas, opinions, reactions, and feeling. Students’ response is important because it may influence their motivation, interest, and achievement in teaching learning activities. Teaching media are everything that can be used to bring a message from the source to the receiver. Teaching media can give good contribution to the teaching learning process. Teaching media have three functions, they are media as an attention role, media as a communicative role, and media a retention role. This study employed descriptive qualitative research because without using statistical analysis the writer described the phenomena of the students’ responses toward the use of the teaching media by the teacher in teaching English at the fifth grade of SDN Blimbing 3 Malang. Based on the research findings, it was found there were two kinds of teaching media used in SDN Blimbing 3, they were pictures and power point. The students gave positive open-ended response toward the use of the teaching media used by the teacher in teaching English at the fifth grade of SDN Blimbing 3 Malang of 2013-2014. There was no negative response from the students showed in the result of observation and interview.
