  • Movie is one of media that contains sounds, video, animation to tell stories. As source of popular entertainment, movie is powerful media for educating. This study was conducted to analyzed Marry Boleyn’s suffering in Phillipa Gregory’s movie “The Other Boleyn Girl”. The purposes of this study is to find out the answer of questions: (1) What are Marry Boleyn’s sufferings?, (2) What are the causes of Marry Boleyn’s suffering?, and (3) How does she solve her sufferings?. This study used descriptive qualitative research design because the writer analysed this movie descriptively by focusing on Marry Boleyn’s suffering. The approach used in this study was objective approach because the purpose of the study was just to understand the story of movie that related to the topic without studying the author’s life. The object of study was Philipa Gregory’smovie “The Other Boleyn Girl”. Moreover, the research data were derived from dialogues and events in “The Other Boleyn Girl”movie that were related to Mary Boleyn’s suffering. The result of this study showed that Marry Boleyn got moral sufferings. Her moral sufferings were a) being forced by family to be a mistress of King Hanry,b) being disappointed because of her sister’s betrayal, c) being ignored by the King, d) being expelled from the Court, and e) being sad because of her family’s death.The causes of her sufferings were a) being driven by her father and uncle’s blind ambition to advance the family's power and status, b) being assumed by her sister as a rival to win the King’s love, c) being driven by her sister’s ambition, and d) the family’s treason. The way she solved her sufferings were a) obeying her family’s ambition, b) being patient to solve the problems, c) forgiving the sister’s entire fault, and d) choosing to stay forever in the village, away from the court.
