- This is a literary study viewing the personality changes aspect of the main character in “Despicable Me” film. Literature reflects human being’s life and also concerned with states of mind, feelings, attitude or behavior. Literature is divided into several subjects, they are poetry, drama, fiction and non fiction. Film is one of the literary works. The research design used is descriptive qualitative research. The object of the study is Gru in Despicable Me film, especially focused on the personality changes. And as the instrument of this study, the researcher used observation that is the way to investigate Gru’s personality changes in “Despicable Me” film. Based on the observation, the researcher finds the personality in the main character (Gru) changed by the bad person to become a good person because he loved his adopted childs, namely Agnes, Edith and Margo. The effects of Gru’s personality changes to him are he called as mysterious hero, the girls changed him to become someone better, and his mother is really proud of him. The factor influenced Gru’s personality changes is change environment factor. This study can give contribution for the reader who wants to know deeply about literature especially the personality changes from another film.
