- Bad language is a kind of language that consists of many bad words or phrases and it can make the bad effect to speaker, listener, and the society. Bad language is only used for informal situation, because it is impolite and cannot be used in formal situation. The purpose of this study is to investigate bad language: like bad languages and their types, the meaning of bad languages, the reasons why the characters use bad language, and the effects of bad language on the character involved. This study was conducted because there are many people that still do not understand the usage of bad language and the effect of bad language itself; people just use it in the public area without thinking about the consequence that they have made; they probably feel cool and confident when they use it. In this study, the writer wanted to help them by giving the explanation on bad language and the good side of bad language in order that they do not use bad language negatively and use it wherever they want. They should learn in using it in the proper place and situation. The results of this study have shown a great number of bad languages used in “Legion” movie. Bad language used in this movie can be separated in some kinds of bad language; there are vulgar, taboos, swearing and slangs. The most dominant bad language found in that movie was slang language, because in every scene of the movie, the characters spoke to other each with informal languages and sometime in their conversation, some vulgar and swearing words appeared.
