- Movie is one of media which is contains of sound, video animation and picture. The advantages from watching movie are, giving us an entertainment, pleasure and education. Through movie, people can understand the development of science, art, and technology that they do not know before. In this study, the researcher is interested in analyzing the social conflict found in a “Step Up 2” movie. Social conflict is a problem that happens between person and another person. The different class is caused the social conflict;the example is the differentbetween the rich and the poor people. In this movie the different class becomes social conflict in the main character, Andie West.The purposes of this study are: (1) to know the social conflict of the main character, and (2) to know the causes of the main character. This study used descriptive qualitative research design because it did not use hypothesis and statistical methods. The object of the analysis is main character in “Step Up 2” movie. And consider the purpose of the study; this study used objective approach because the researcher only focused in analyzed social conflict of the main character in “Step Up 2” movie. The result of this study showed that the social conflicts faced a main character in “Step Up 2” movie were: (1) the conflict of Andie West and Sarah which was caused Sarah to forbid Andie join the street competition, (2) the conflict of Andie West and Four-One-Oh crew which was caused she was busy at the school so she always come to late the exercise with the crew, and (3) the conflict of Andie West and Director Collin (MSA) which was causedthe injustice did by Collin to Andie for social and economic life Finally, it can be concluded that social conflicts that happened in our life. Social conflict is the confrontation of social powers. It means that the more powerful the groups use their power in order to exploit less power groups. So, people can take the lesson from the conflict that they faced.
