- This study concerns with the analysis of abbreviation used by digital native in International meet new friend room at Paltalk. The purposes of this study are to find the abbreviation used by digital native in International Meet New Friend room at Paltalk chat and also the type and the meaning of that abbreviation. This analysis used descriptive qualitative method because its objective is to obtain information concerning the current status of phenomena and it is directed toward determining the nature of a situation as it exist at the time of study. The current status of the subject of this research is the abbreviation used by digital native in International Meet New Friend’s room at Paltalk Chat. The data were taken randomly, when the member joined at Paltalk chat in the fixed time. From the data that have been analyzed, it was found two types of abbreviation are 8 conventional abbreviations, and 41 unconventional abbreviations. For the conventional abbreviation such as advt. is the abbreviation of advertisement, a.m. is the abbreviation of ante meridiem, and Esp. is the abbreviation of especially. While unconventional abbreviation form such as, BBIAB is the abbreviation of Be Back in A Bit, Any1 is the abbreviation of Anyone, and BBL as the abbreviation of Be Back Later, etc. Based on that data, the writer concluded that abbreviation that was often used by digital native in International meet new friend room at Paltalk chat is unconventional abbreviation. It is suggested for the next reseacher to analyse about the abbreviation in International Meet New Friend room at Paltalk used by digital immigrant, then compare the usage of types abbreviation that is often used between digital native and digital immigrant.
