  • Vocabulary as one of the language components that must be mastered by the learners who learn English. Vocabulary is a basic elements of communication. Vocabulary also very important for childrenÂ’s language acquisition process as the beginners. In the next level students are able to master four English skills. This study is focused on describing the teacherÂ’s techniques applied by the teacher in teaching English vocabulary at SPS Cahaya Bunda Landungsari Dau Malang. The research problems were the kinds of techniques applied by the teacher in teaching English vocabulary, the problems faced by the teacher in applying the technique, and the teacherÂ’s way to solve the problems in applying the techniques in teaching English vocabulary. This study used a descriptive qualitative research design. The subject was the teacher at TK A class in SPS Cahaya Bunda Landungsari Dau Malang. The instruments used by the researcher to collect the data were observation and interview. The result of the study showed that the techniques applied by the teacher in teaching English vocabulary at TK A class in SPS Cahaya Bunda Landungsari Dau Malang were; songs and games. Unfortunately, in applying the techniques, the teacher faced some problems in teaching English vocabulary. The problems faced by the teacher in applying songs technique were; (1) Limited number of songs cassette. It could be solved by giving various and interesting songs taken from internet; (2) TeacherÂ’s writing on the whiteboard was small for students in the back row. It could be solved by printed out the song lyrics and divided to all of students. The problems faced by the teacher in applying games technique was the small size of picture in matching words and pictures game and the students in the back row got difficulties in seeing the pictures in front of class. It could be solved by making pictures bigger and the students in the back row can seeing the pictures clearly.
