- English has become an important language worldwide that many people around the world are learning it, and Indonesia is not exceptional. The education unit level curriculum – KTSP 2006 constructed the aspects of teaching and learning English that covers four language skills, namely listening, speaking, reading, and writing. These four skills should be taught in balance, and the methods for teaching English to vocational school students, especially, should be relevant with the vocational students’ content materials. This research was directed to answer a technique of reading aloud that can improve the tenth year students’ pronunciation achievement at SMKN 2 Malang. It is due to the lack of students’ ability in pronunciation, therefore the researcher is eager to take the research concerning with students’ pronunciation in this vocational school. And this research was intended to find out the effective strategies of using reading aloud technique that can improve the students’ pronunciation at SMKN 2 Malang. The design of this research was classroom action research. In this research, the researcher collaborated with the English teacher of SMKN 2 Malang. The actions were done in 2 cycles in which each cycle covered stages of activities, namely planning of the action, the implementation of the action, class observation, and reflection of the action. The classroom action research was accomplished in nine meetings. The first three meetings was conducted for the preliminary study, the next six meetings were divided into two cycles. The first two meetings of each cycle were for teaching pronunciation using reading aloud and the last meeting was for questionnaires and the pronunciation test. This research started with the preliminary study for the purposes of: (1) giving pre-test; (2) fact-finding to identify the real problems in the teaching-learning of pronunciation; and (3) initial problems identification. The preliminary observation was conducted from April, 23rd , 26th and 30 th 2013, it was done by making an observation to the classroom activities and interviewing the students and the English teacher as a teaching partner. All teaching activities planned in the cycle I was implemented in three meetings. In the first and second meetings conducted on May, 3rd – 7th 2013 with the theme “Jasmani’s family” and the last meeting conducted on May, 10th 2013 was for pronunciation test. In the cycle II was conducted on May, 14th - 17th 2013 with the theme “Wijaya’s house” and the last meeting was conducted on May, 21st 2013 was for pronunciation test gathering all theme. The research finding showed that the result of pretest, the student’s achievement of KKM 42%, while the cycle I was obtained 52%, then cycle II was obtained 81%. It means that the use of reading aloud could improve the students’ pronunciation achievement.
