- Language has many functions for human life; to communicate with each other, to show the oneÂ’s mind, and to express the human needs. Language and society cannot be separated. Every society has their own language and some of their language is a bad language. Now, bad language is used in so many western movies. And the purpose of this study is to know the kinds and the meaning of bad language used in Crank 2 movie. Language is the tools to communicate with each others. Sociolinguistic is the study about the relationship between language and society. Language is different depend on the society. So, it can make language have many variations. Some of them are included in bad language. Bad language is a kind of language that is used for certain purpose that may be dangerous to be used. And bad language is common used in the western movie. Movie is almost the same like drama and have the element such as: character, plot, dialog, and etc. The research design that already used is descriptive qualitative research. The object of this research is Crank 2 movie. Especially focused on the bad language that is used by the characters. And as the instrument of this study, the researcher used document study and observation. Document study is the dialog or the script of the movie and the observation is the way to investigate the bad language that used in Crank 2 movie. Based on the observation, the researcher founds that there are three kinds of bad language that used by the characters in Crank 2 movie. There are slang, taboo, and swearing. And the meaning of those bad languages that already found is to express strong angriness, emotion, disappointed, and etc. This study can gives contribution for the reader who want to know deeply about sociolinguistic especially the bad language from another country.
