- Slang is one of language variety that commonly used by teenager to speak in their community and in informal situation. In another term, slang use on the internet was called internet slang. Internet slang refers to a variety of everyday languages used by different communities on the internet. This study concerned with the discussion of internet slang on the facebook used by student of English Department at the University of Muhammadyah Malang. In this study, the researcher analyzed two problems (1) what are the internet slang used by studentsÂ’ facebookof English Department at University of Muhammadiyah Malang? (2) What are the meanings of internet slang used by studentsÂ’ facebook of English Department at University of Muhammadiyah Malang? Research design used in this study was descriptive qualitative. The subject of this study was internet slang used by students onfacebook. The informants of study were 30 students of English Department at University of Muhammadiyah Malang. Main instrument of this study was the research observation, questionnaire and document. Based on the result of internet slang research used by students on facebook, the writer found 95 internet slangs. In first week, the writer found 40 internet slangsand in second weeks, found 55 internet slangs used by studentsÂ’ facebookof English Department at University of Muhammadiyah used by students on facebook. In addition, the writer found some new internet slang used by students on facebook. For instance, one word could have more than one meaning like;.LOL means laugh out loud or lost out love, another kind of internet slang used by student in symbol type, picture and number. For instance: means angry. 4 means for, P8 means page.
